Nursery Level Assessment

Colors - Henry was able to correctly identify blue, red, yellow, green, brown, orange, and black.  He had slight difficulty with purple, but was able to identify it correctly after a few tries.

Shapes - Henry was able to correctly identify circles, squares, and rectangles.  He had trouble with triangles and had to be prompted twice before he remembered.  From our shapes bag, he also correctly identified ovals, hexagons, stars, and octagons.  He missed pentagons completely.

Upper-case Letters - Henry correctly identified all upper-case letters, but needed prompting for K and T.

Lower-case Letters - Henry correctly identified all lower-case letters, except for h, l, n, q, and t.  He needed prompting for those, but got them eventually.

Numbers - Henry correctly identified all numbers, except for 9.  He was able to identify 9 after a few tries.

I think that Henry has almost mastered the core subjects for Nursery Level.  I feel comfortable awarding him his completion certificate for the work he has done, but we will continue to review this information over the next few months.  I am confident that Henry will be ready to begin his preschool-level work in the fall.

In the meantime, we will continue our weekly science and religion lessons.  We will also begin a more thorough review of the nursery-level Good Books using the guided questions provided in the Angelicum Academy lesson plans.
